If you're after an away-from-it-all, self-catering break on the Algarve, call off the search. The Alfagar Apartments, perched on the cliff top above the lovely Santa Eulalia Beach, command fantastic views out to sea and offer up a top-notch base from which to indulge in some serious downtime.

Inside your apartment you'll find a nice bright space with pine furniture and a contemporary kitchenette – complete with holiday must-have, a kettle! Moving outside and the quality continues. You've got two pools to choose from and, if that wasn't enough, the beach about two minutes away. You just need to decide whether you want a poolside snack bar for company or a tidal soundtrack. Best of all though, no matter which you plump for, you'll be soaking up the sun before you know it.

But what else? Well, if you fancy a break from sunbathing the Alfagar has two tennis courts for the budding Andy Murrays amongst you, while the children are catered for with their own large pool, playground and games room. Come the evenings, you're in for a bit of a treat too. Firstly, there's an a la carte restaurant – the fish is reported to be well worth a try. And secondly, there's entertainment laid on each night – be sure to check out the folk dancers. It all adds up to some very laid back fun in the sun for all the family.
