'Almost as much fun as San Antonio Town, but with the volume turned down! Entertainment here is more low-key, revolving around beaches and bars rather than clubs and crazy nightlife.'
Stretching around the bay from the main town of San Antonio, this is a holiday area where hotels and apartments have big pool terraces and lovely views, the beach is never far from your door, and there's always a laid-back bar within an easy stroll. The mood is family friendly and relaxed, but if you want to rev up for a long night out, then a short bus or ferry ride will transport you to the daily party in San Antonio.
A promenade runs around the shore, linking all the sandy coves together. Near the Town Hall, the main beach slopes gently into clean, shallow water – perfect for swimmers who aren't yet sure of their strokes. Further round, there's a succession of smaller coves, which may get busy in high season, but there should always be one near your accommodation if you feel like a quick dip. Watersports such as parasailing, banana boats and jet-skiing take advantage of the calm waters of the bay. Catch a ferry or bus, or hop in the car to the lovely beaches of Cala Bassa, Cala Conta and Cala Tarida a little further around the coast.
San Antonio Bay's many restaurants offer good value for money, and you can choose between cheap and cheerful, or seek out the few more upmarket places. The beach bars along the bay make the perfect spot to watch the sunset, and you may catch live shows or bands on the terraces later in the evening. The shops here are mostly stocked with beachwear and souvenirs, but you can always pop into San Antonio for interesting pottery, jewellery and leather.
